Books 4 All
Rohan, a high school student in San Diego, and his ASB club have accumulated thousands of gently used children's books throughout San Diego and have donated them to Edison for two years, and he and his club will continue to for years to come. The donated books fill our Little Free Libraries on 35th and Wilson.
Cans 4 Books
Founder Trisha Goolsby helped Edison earn 500 free books by collecting recycled plastics and aluminum. Her organization aims to eliminate pollution and bring the love of reading to our community: https://cans4books.org/. We will be doing two (2) recycling drives per year with "Reef" the recycling whale. Our goal is to fill the whale at least two (2) times per drive!
Little Free Libraries
Edison has two (2) Little Free Libraries - One near our main entrance on 35th Street and one near our Wilson gate entrance! https://www.sdcl.org/lfl/
Handel's Ice Cream
One or two events per year on campus - dates are to be determined. https://handelsicecream.com/
Panda Express
One or two events per year at participating Panda Express location - dates are to be determined. https://www.pandaexpress.com/
Price Philanthropies
Price has been a consistent and reliable source of enrichment for our learners and learning community. They have provided a $35,000 grant to Edison supporting enriching programs, such as Rainforest Art Project mosaics, Arts Education Connection San Diego breakdancing, murals, improv, and music, and various other special licenses for reading support. We value their partnership in service of our students and community.
Carson Foundation Reading Scholars
They have funded a Reading Room for our students simply for the enjoyment of reading. The Carson Foundation has donated over $15,000 to create a room for enjoyable reading, exploration, and imagination. Their scholarship program selected one of our students, Dalila R. to earn a $1000 scholarship!
